Hand harvest peaches. Pick ripe peaches from the tree by gently pulling peaches off the branch and placing in small picking basket/sack without bruising the fruit. Worker may need to place a ladder on the tree to pick fruit that cannot be reached by standing on the ground. Worker will fill the basket/sack, carry it, and gently dump out the fruit into a harvesting crate and repeat the process again. Worker will attach harness, bucket or bag and pick low hanging fruit while standing on ground and higher branches whiles standing on ladder. Worker will pick according to grade, color and size by grasping the fruit with the hands and removing from the tree in a motion so as not to harm adjacent fruit or buds on the tree branches. Worker will carry full harness, buck or bag and place fruit into wooden or plastic bins which hold approximately 13 bushels of fruit. Care must be exercised at all times to prevent bruising of fruit or breaking of branches. Some workers may be required to examine harvested fruit in bins and sort out any fruit not meeting the grade, color and size specifications. May prune, thin, pack and pick peaches during the season along with orchard maintenance consisting of but not limited to mowing, weeding, spraying, irrigating and planting. Prolonged walking, standing, bending, stooping and reaching is involved. Job is outdoors and continues in all types of weather. Workers may be requested to submit to random drug or alcohol tests at no costs to the worker. Failure to comply with the request or testing positive may result in immediate termination. All testing will occur post-hire and is not part of the interview process. Negative result may be required post-hire and before commencing work. Workers may assist in loading of trucks by lifting 75 pounds to a heigh of 5 feet or more repetitively. Must be able to lift 75lbs to shoulder height repetitively throughout the workday and able to lift and carry 75lbs in field. Must no hinder other workers productivity. Though not a hiring requirement, if a worker drives a company vehicle during the period of employment then at the time of operating the company vehicle the driver must possess a valid driver's license issued by a U.S. State or foreign equivalent and operate the company vehicle in accordance with the applicable license restrictions and vehicle classification requirements. Requires one-month verifiable farmworker experience as a peach orchard worker. Work may also include mechanized field work using power equipment. By way of example and not limitation, power equipment may include tractors, mowers and other equipment. Workers will be expected to be able to operate agricultural equipment with or without direction. Workers are exposed to wet weather early in the morning and heat during the day while working in the fields. Temperatures may range from 10F to +10-0F. Workers may be required to work during occasional showers not severe enough to stop field operations. Position and Duties; Performance of Services: This position is for a caretaker of a residential property including its surrounding 85 acres of farmland. The job will involve a broad spectrum of tasks to help maintain the property—ranging from mowing the grass, cutting and trimming down trees, and other types of physical labor. The job requires a commitment of two to three days per week. Key skills include strong mechanical aptitude, organization, and the ability to perform manual labor in a proficient and timely manner.
