(TLC) is a concept that pays tribute to a family history, a love of land & cattle and the individuals in eight generations that adapted over and over to make it all happen. In our pastures, we raise registered Angus cattle. In our feedlots, we feed out steers and heifers from a variety of local sources. Our cattle are fed TMR rations, are tagged with the USDA electronic ear tags and are monitored in our custom database. Yet, our people watch the health and monitor the feed bunks, while handling the animals with a sense of caring. This is a FANTASTIC opportunity! Hi! Our names are Lolly & Eric Clough, and we're the owners of Valais Dream Ranch & Retreat, which is our small homestead ranch on 19 acres in West Tennessee. We breed and raise Swiss Valais Blacknose sheep (a.k.a. the "World's Cutest Sheep!") and currently have 4 ewes and 3 adorable lambs, with more due April 20th! All of our animals are free-range, including our sheep, goats, mini donkey, chickens, turkeys, and ducks. We also have dogs, cats, and bunnies too! :) Eric and I are very easy to get along with, we both have a great sense of humor, and love to reward those who go above and beyond for us! Should the situation work out, we are willing to set up some type of tiny home on the property for the right person to provide additional privacy. All daily tasks might take an accumulated total of 2 hours of work per day, with an occasional longer project here and there that we'll need help with. Realistically, the ranch hand could even get a second part-time job as well if they wanted to! Ranch hand will be responsible for daily care of animals and facility maintenance, including but not limited to: - Daily feeding and watering of all inside and outside animals (30min) - Daily turnout of all penned animals (5min) - Daily cleaning of stalls, coops, pens, and cages (When kept up with daily, maybe 30min) - Observation of animals and their overall health - Assist with planting, watering, maintenance, and harvesting of garden and/or greenhouse (seasonally, maybe an hour) - Collecting eggs daily (15min) - Assist in the construction of various projects, including sheds, coops, fencing, pens, etc. (occasionally, maybe 1 or 2 projects/year) - Assist with administering medications to the animals (occasionally, as needed, takes a few minutes) - Assist with lambing (once in spring, once in fall) - Holding sheep for shearing and hoof trimming (twice/year, takes a couple hours, not difficult) - Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications: Must be HONEST AND TRUSTWORTHY. Must be self-motivated, proactive, and self-managed. Must have a good attitude and be willing to take instruction from a female. Must have experience with farm animals, farm management and farm equipment, and an understanding of equipment maintenance, (i.e., chainsaws, oil for tractor and equipment, basic knowledge of diesel and unleaded gasoline for equipment, etc.) Must know how to drive a tractor, drive, and work lawn mowers. Must know basic maintenance of farm equipment. Absolutely no smoking, drinking, or illegal substances of any kind. Must be clean and tidy, and pick up after yourself. Must have a valid clean driver's license, as well as a registered and insured vehicle in good working condition. Must have no criminal history. Must agree to a background check.
